Do you know that you may be sitting on a bunch of treasures? The secondhand market is rift with treasures but that doesn’t even cover its full potential. Many of us have a closet full of clothes that no longer serve us but are still in good condition and deserve a second life.
MYMIKA recently hosted a swap event in collaboration with our dear friends and partners at CAREhER. Among the 100 attendees from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Singapore, we successfully recirculated over 70 pieces of clothing from their closets. It was incredible to see the treasures that emerged – pieces from Burberry, Reformation, GANNI, and more.
If you know where to look, you don’t have to spend a lot of money to score high quality, stylish clothes that will work hard for you in your wardrobe. If the secondhand market is too overwhelming, consider starting with a clothing swap with your stylish friends and family! The people around us are the original and most authentic influencers. What no longer works for someone due to changes in their lifestyle or tastes could easily replace your next purchase! Saves you money and saves the planet. Even if you don’t score anything from the swap, it can be a fun discovery activity among you and your friends!
Did you know? By swapping a garment, you extend its life by about 2.2 years*. In doing so, you will also reduce its carbon, waste, and water footprint by 73%*. Compared to buying new, choosing pre-loved can lower your environmental impact by as much as 90%**.
We can all make a difference starting with our closets.
